Airbus Sued by Cabin Crew Member

A flight attendant working for American Airlines has filed a lawsuit against Airbus due to alleged exposure to toxic fumes on an Airbus A319 aircraft. The flight attendant, Tamar Ferrel, claims to have suffered permanent health problems following the incident in January 2024 and is seeking approximately $30 million in damages.

According to the allegations, the incident began after the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) was started while the aircraft was on the ground. It is claimed that a dense chemical odor formed in the cabin; while passengers were evacuated, the cabin crew reportedly remained on board for a longer period. Following the incident, Ferrel allegedly developed severe headaches, brain fog, and subsequent psychological disorders.

The lawsuit claims that the potential risks of air systems used in aircraft have been known for a long time, but adequate preventive technologies have not been implemented. It was reported that other cabin crew members working for different airlines have also initiated similar legal proceedings with comparable allegations.
